Product Development & Production Coordinator
Looking for your dream role in an independent, ethical fashion brand? OBUS is seeking a skilled Product Development & Production Coordinator to take ownership of both design development and production coordination across our seasonal collections. In this full time position, you'll work closely with Creative Director/Business Owner to take our clothing from design drawing to shop floor!
This hands-on role bridges creative product development with efficient production oversight, ensuring our garments are beautifully designed, well-constructed, and delivered on time. Working closely with pattern maker, suppliers and manufacturers, you'll manage the journey of each style from concept to delivery.
Obus is a Melbourne based women's fashion label founded by Creative Director Kylie Zerbst. We make quality garments that stand the test of time, with a strong emphasis on prints – Manufacturing both on and offshore. Key Responsibilities
Product Development

Translate range direction from the Creative Director into cohesive, brand-aligned seasonal collections.

Conduct seasonal research on colour, print, fabric, trim, and silhouette trends to inform design direction.

Create and maintain range tracking sheets, tech packs, and CAD drawings to manage each style's development.

Source and develop new fabrics, trims, and garment components both locally and offshore.

Prepare mood boards and presentation materials for ranging sessions.

Oversee fittings, ensuring consistent fit, quality workmanship, and accurate technical documentation.

Analyse sales and performance reports to inform future product planning.
Production Management

Oversee the full production cycle from sampling, pricing, and order placement through to delivery.

Maintain daily communication with local and offshore suppliers to ensure production timelines are met.

Lead fittings, record comments, and communicate updates to suppliers and internal teams.

Manage production schedules, sample trackers, and purchase orders to align with delivery targets.

Liaise with freight forwarders and couriers to coordinate shipments, customs documentation, and deliveries.

Prepare and manage seasonal budgets, costings, and production cashflows.
Skills & Experience

Minimum 5 years' experience in fashion product development and/or production management.

Must possess both product development and production coordination experience in the fashion industry.

Strong understanding of garment construction, fit standards, and technical specifications.

Proven ability to manage multiple styles and timelines simultaneously.

Excellent communication and negotiation skills with local and offshore manufacturers.

Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Excel, and PLM or production tracking systems.

Knowledge of women's fashion market trends and a keen eye for detail and quality.

Australian work authorisation is required for this position.

Casual Sales Assistant
OBUS is on the lookout for a warm, experienced Sales Assistant to join our team in Northcote, working 2–4 days per week. Must be available to work Saturdays on a rotating roster.
